Donald Trump wants allies to share burden of security

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has said that if elected he would ensure that America's European and Asian allies meet the NATO obligation of spending two per cent of their GDP on defence.
"Only five of the 28 member NATO countries meet their obligations to spend two per cent of GDP on defence. I will convene a summit of our European and Asian allies to make sure everyone is sharing in the burden of security. We are paying tremendous amounts of money to secure other nations, to protect and defend other nations," Trump said at an election rally in Iowa.
"We are going to be made whole. We have no choice. This isn't 30 years ago. This isn't 40 years ago. And I believe properly asked, we'll be in a very good position and they will be very nice about it," he said as he slammed the foreign policy of the Obama Administration in particular that of the former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is now the Democratic presidential nominee.
"Whether it's her e-mails, her disasters in Iraq, Libya and Syria, or her failures on the economy, of which it's been disastrous, Hillary Clinton lacks the judgement, temperament and moral character to lead this country. She does. You know it. Everybody knows it," he said amidst applause from the cheering audience. read full story >>>

Trump and his running mate contradict themselves on NATO issue

Mike Pence, Donald Trump
The Republican campaign sparked a controversy when party's presidential nominee Donald Trump and his running mate Mike Pence expressed contradicting views on America's North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) allies.
In his vice-presidential acceptance speech, Pence said that Trump would rebuild the military and stand with the allies of the United States.
But in an interview to The New York Times, Trump said that the US under his presidency might not come to the defence of some NATO members if Russia were to attack them.
The Republican presidential nominee said that his decision would be based on the whether those countries have fulfilled their obligations to NATO.
The rival Clinton campaign slammed Trump and Pence for their differences on this crucial issue.
"Tonight, Mike Pence said Donald Trump would stand with our allies. Tonight, Donald Trump flatly contradicted him," said the Hillary for America Senior Policy Adviser Jake Sullivan.
"Ronald Reagan would be ashamed. Harry Truman would be ashamed. Republicans,Democrats and Independents who help build NATO into the most successful military alliance in history would all come to the same conclusion: Donald Trump is temperamentally unfit and fundamentally ill-prepared to be our Commander in Chief," he said. Read More

ISIS developing Google-style driverless cars for attacks

Islamic State (ISIS) technicians are working to develop a Google-style driverless car that could navigate itself into a crowded area before detonating an explosive device, aNATO security expert has warned.
ISIS' research and development department in the terror group's de facto Syrian capital, Raqqa, is believed to be producing the vehicles at the same time as US Internet giant Google attempts to perfect the same technology.
If successful, the invention could prove to be a major headache for security services in Britain and throughoutEurope and North America, where self-driving cars are expected to become commonplace, Daily Express reported.
Thousands of driverless cars are expected to be on Britain's roads within the next few years and there is a very real prospect jihadis could prey on the new technology to launch attacks in the UK.
Jamie Shea, NATO's deputy assistant secretary general for emerging security threats, said the Islamic extremists were using their bomb making factory in Raqqa to develop the technology.
He said ISIS was using its "technical expertise" to "play around" with driverless cars in a "worrying" development.
Shea said: "We are focusing very much on...Raqqa at the moment, where ISIL [ISIS] has its bomb making factory.
"It is not just Google that is producing the autonomous car, ISIS is also trying to do the same."
The technology would remove the need for suicide bombers and could help the death cult - also known by its Arabic acronym Daesh - cope with the dramatic drop in its numbers, which has seen its fighting force cut almost in half.
The FBI has long argued autonomous cars could be used by criminals as lethal weapons.
