Electric sparks: M&M flags issues with Tata Motors e-car pricing

Pawan Goenka says not sure about selling cars in phase-II

1507229647-3231

M&M, which is competing with rival Tata Motors Electric Cars in the country’s largest electric car tender, said the company finds it “difficult” to comprehend the latter’s pricing in the tender. Tata Motors quoted a price of Rs 10.16 lakh for its electric Tigor sedan in the tender for 10,000 electric cars when M&M offered to sell its e-Verito at approximately Rs 12 lakh (both prices are exclusive of the goods and services tax).

“This pricing is difficult for us to comprehend given the fact that we have been in the business for more than five years and have good knowledge about the industry,” Pawan Goenka, managing director at M&M, said in a conference call on Thursday.

Tata Motors emerged as the lowest bidder in the tender and is selling 250 of the order for 400 units in the first phase. EESL, which invited the bids, gave M&M an opportunity to match the price of the electric Tigor, following which the firm would supply 150 units in first phase that ends on November 30. Goenka, however, said they would not make any profit on the order.

Goenka said he was not aware if Tata Motors was able to offer the price based on a volume commitment to its vendors. He drew a distinction between the e-Verito and the electric Tigor. He said the e-Verito was a proper sedan with a bigger length (4.24 metre) against the sub-4 metre length of the Tigor. “Our vehicle has a range of 170-180 km upon full charge, which is more than the specified range of 130 km in the tender,” he said. The BJP on Wednesday fielded Yogi Adityanath as part of its campaign against the killing of saffron activists allegedly by the ruling CPI-M in Kerala, where the firebrand Hindutva leader accused the Left party of promoting “jihadi terrorism”

Mounting a blistering attack on the Left, he said it was its nature to “grab power at gunpoint”.

The saffron-robed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also raked up the contentious issue of ‘Love Jihad’, accusing the Kerala government of not taking steps to check the “dangerous trend”.

Leading the ‘Jan Raksha Yatra’, a day after BJP president Amit Shah launched the party’s 15-day campaign for “people’s protection”, Adityanath said Kerala occupied an important place in the Sanatan Hindu tradition, and wondered how the “foreign ideology” of Communism entered the state.

“The CPI(M) raises slogans about secularism but promotes jihadi terrorism. Kerala is a holy land where this is unacceptable. Here only the nationalist ideology should be promoted,” he told a public meeting, raising the Hindutva pitch while seeking to highlight the killing of BJP-RSS workers.

Adityanath claimed that the God’s own country, as Kerala is often called, has been witnessing political violence sponsored by the ruling party.

“It is in the nature of the Left party to grab power at gunpoint,” he told PTI.

“There is no scope for violence in democracy, but, unfortunately, Kerala has been witnessing politically- sponsored violence. With this ‘yatra’, we will make people aware of the CPI-M’s misrule,” he said.

He said if the CPI-M believes in democracy, it will have to answer questions about the political killings taking place in Kerala….READ MORE

RBI removes walls between e-wallets, soon a Paytm user can transact with a MobiKwik user

Inter-operability to help players increase business

To make the use of digital cash more prevalent and convenient, a digital wallet user would soon be able to accept cash from the user of another Ewallet, because of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) tweaking its guidelines.

Current Affairs News : For example, a Paytm wallet user would soon be able to accept cash from a PhonePe wallet user.

Opening up the strings of digital wallets, the RBI on Wednesday said it would issue revised directions by October 11 to allow “inter-operability” among prepaid payment instruments (PPIs). These include digital wallets, prepaid cash coupons and prepaid telephone top-up cards. PPIs are a substitute for paper currency.

It is expected that PPIs can inter-operate within six months of the revised directions, the RBI said in its “Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policies”.

The RBI said the feedback received was examined and it was decided to rationalise the operational guidelines with a view to encouraging competition and strengthening security of operations, besides improving customer grievance redressal mechanisms.

The first guidelines for issuance and operation of PPIs came in April 2009 with the objective to create an ecosystem. In March, the RBI asked for feedback on the PPI industry. At present, two people using the same digital wallet can do transactions; in less than six months, people using digital wallets from different companies would be able to send and receive money from each other. Taj Mahal dropped from UP tourism booklet? Here's why the controversy erupted

The Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world does not excite the imagination of Yogi Adityanath's administration

The Taj Mahal may be one of the ‘seven wonders of the world,’ attracting millions of tourists each year, but it has failed to feature in Uttar Pradesh’s latest tourism booklet.
The 32-page booklet, which has the famed Ganga aarti as its cover image, has been printed to promote the tourist spots in Uttar Pradesh, but surprisingly the most prominent and popular one is missing.
Latest Current Affairs : Titled Apaar Sambhavnaye or ‘Boundless Possibilities’, the brochure released by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department displays most of the other cultural and heritage sites in the State, particularly those associated with the Hindu religious tourism. Earlier, it was also reported that the BJP Government in the state had not included Taj Mahal as part of Uttar Pradesh's "cultural heritage".

He also called Shah Jahan "barbaric" for amputating the hands of the artisans who constructing the Taj Mahal."The Taj Mahal is an outstanding monument depicting Indian craftsmanship but Shahjahan amputated the hands of artisans who made the Taj. This is not Indian culture and shows he was barbaric.
